Heartbroken friends and former schoolmates have paid tribute to "a beautiful person and an amazing mum" who was tragically found dead in Kirkby.

Mum Kimberlie Donoghue was found dead in a house on Roughwood Drive at around 5.20pm on Sunday, January 21. A 23-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of her murder and taken to a police station for questioning.

Detectives have confirmed that the man has now been released under investigation and that Kimberlie's death is still being treated as unexplained.

Tributes to Ms Donoghue poured in online following the shock news of her death. In a post on Facebook, friend Lauren Hughes said: "I still can’t believe what’s happened after seeing you finally find happiness and feel settled too, you and your babies deserved the brightest future together. Genuinely one of the nicest girls I've had the pleasure of knowing. You had a heart of gold, beautiful inside and out and will be missed by everyone. A true angel."

Dawn Zena Poston said: "R.I.P. My beautiful friend. I'm still numb with shock! Will miss our little chats and banter, you brightened my day with your humour and kind words. Hope you get the justice you deserve...such a cruel evil world we live in. Love you always Kimberlie Donoghue fly high angel"

Riley Jen said: "I've not stopped thinking about you all day even though I've not seen you in years we have lots of memories of you at primary and high school! rip beautiful life is so cruel thoughts are with your family."

Danielle Allmark said: "How can this world be so cruel? You was one of a kind Kimberlie Donoghue the one got me up when I was down, the one to make any silent room loud, you was an amazing friend to everyone and I’ll never forget you I love you so much."
