David Moyes says he always thought whichever team scored the first goal of the match would win in his side's clash with Manchester United.

Manchester United's attacking woes continued at the London Stadium as their forwards struggled to have any positive impact on the match, with West Ham creating the far better chances in the match.

United have now failed to score in four successive matches for the first time since 1992, while it is now almost six and a half hours since they last found the back of the net in any competition.

With attacking threat at such a premium, it always felt like the match with West Ham would be settled by a narrow scoreline, something that Moyes acknowledged himself.

"I thought whoever scored the first goal could probably have won the game," he told reporters after the win. "Thankfully, we got it. We didn't start particularly well, but we kept ourselves in the game. We became much more aggressive in the second half and thankfully we got those moments that mattered."

"I think that we made the (line up) decisions that we needed. We had a really busy week—three games in a week. The big thing today was the result."
