Police appeal after two homes burgled in just an hour on nearby streets

Officers are urging local residents to check their CCTV or doorbell cameras

Police have issued an appeal for information after two homes were burgled in just an hour on nearby streets in Whitefield.

The first of the burglaries was reported to have happened on Mountbatten Close at around 1.30am this morning (Friday), police said. The second was reported on nearby Douglas Way at around 2.30am.

Officers did not reveal details of what was taken in the burglaries. In an appeal posted on the GMP Bury Facebook page this morning, police urged local residents to check their CCTV or doorbell cameras.

The post said: "#Appeal | Officers from the Neighbourhood Crime Team are investigating two burglaries that occurred on Mountbatten Close and Douglas Way in Whitefield in the early hours of the 12/01/2024. The burglary at Mountbatten Close is believed to have occurred at around 01:30 and the burglary at Douglas Way is believed to have occurred at around 02:30.

"We would like to ask local residents in these areas to check any CCTV or Ring doorbell cameras for any suspicious activity around these time frames. You can email any footage that you have to PC Hubbard at 18009@gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, you can contact the team directly on 0161 8568222."
