Calgary officer cleared in 2022 shooting of man armed with knife, box cutter

by · Calgary Herald

The non-fatal shooting of a knife-wielding man outside his Radisson Heights home in August 2022 was justified after repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation failed, Alberta’s police watchdog has concluded.

The unidentified man, who confronted a Calgary Police Service officer while carrying a knife and a box cutter, was shot five times after repeatedly refusing his requests to drop the weapons, an Alberta Serious Incident Response Team report states.
