Another man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man in a Derbyshire village. A murder investigation was launched after the body of Owen Fairclough was found on a path near Risley Lane, in Breaston, at around 7.20pm on Friday, June 23.

Luke Hibbert, 27, of Eastwood, has been charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, November 29).

Three men, who had previously been charged with the murder of Mr Fairclough, remain remanded in prison and will next appear at Derby Crown Court in December. Jack Towell, 21, of Castle Boulevard, Nottingham, David Oswald, 30, of Granville Square, Birmingham, and Jason Hill, 21, of Risley, have all been charged with Mr Fairclough's murder.

The three appeared at Derby Crown Court on Monday, July 31. Towell and Oswald both pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Fairclough when they appeared in person.

They both also denied a second charge of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife. Hill was not asked to enter pleas when he appeared over a video link from HMP Nottingham for the same hearing.

Following his death, Mr Fairclough’s family provided a statement in which they paid tribute to him. It read: “Owen was a loving young man. He loved his family and his job. He was a homely, kind person who loved cooking.

"Owen had his whole future to look forward to and really wanted his own family one day. We are devastated to lose him.”
