Met Office shares exact list of everywhere in England set for snow today

The whole eastern coast of the UK, stretching from Scotland to East Anglia, is under an alert for snow and ice until 11am this morning, the Met Office has warned as December starts today.

The Met Office announced all the parts of England which will be hit by snow on Friday, December 1. The whole eastern coast of the UK, stretching from Scotland to East Anglia, is under an alert for snow and ice until 11am this morning, the Met Office has warned as December starts today.

Warnings for ice are also in force across parts of Northern Ireland and southwest England until 10am. The UK Health Security Agency has issued amber cold health alerts in five regions - the East Midlands, West Midlands, North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber - until 5 December.

National Highways is urging motorists to plan their journeys, keep an eye on the weather forecast, and take extra care on the roads. Its national network manager Dale Hipkiss said: "Freezing conditions bring so many hazards such as snow and ice, please take every possible step to understand your journey in advance and allow extra time when travelling.

"Keeping a kit of essential items like a torch and warm clothes in your vehicle can be vital." Friday morning saw a frost, with overnight temperatures dropping as low as -6C in the south-west, -8C in Wales and -10C in parts of Scotland, according to the Met Office.

"Showers, wintry in places, will continue to affect northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England through Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning. These are likely to fall onto frozen surfaces allowing icy patches to form," the Met Office warns on its website in a yellow weather warning for snow.

"From approximately the Humber northwards, showers will often fall as snow inland, with up to 2cm possible in places, and perhaps as much as 5 cm over high ground. Further south, any snow accumulations are more likely to be restricted to higher ground."

The alert is in place for Angus, Dundee and Fife, as well as Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Norfolk. Peterborough, Suffolk, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire and Moray are also impacted, as well as Highlands & Eilean Siar and swathes of the North East, including Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland.

South Tyneside ,Stockton-on-Tees, Sunderland, Orkney & Shetland, Lothian, East Lothian, Scottish Borders, East Riding of Yorkshire complete the list alongsde Kingston upon Hull, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire.
