Liverpool are set to be without three players for Monday's penultimate Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa.

The Reds head into the final week of Jurgen Klopp's reign as manager with little to play for after Manchester City's 4-0 hammering of Fulham on Saturday made it mathematically impossible for the Premier League title to find its way to Anfield this season.

However, there a several players who are set to miss out on the Reds' final games of the season, with Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota currently sidelined with injuries of varying significance.

Here, the ECHO looks at the latest injury news and possible return dates ahead of Monday's trip to Villa Park.

Diogo Jota

Jota has been sidelined since scoring against Fulham last month and the forward is yet to return to team training as the season draws to a close.

However, with just two games left and the forward yet to return to training, it could be too much of an ask for the Portugal international to prove his fitness in time for Klopp's Anfield hurrah against Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend.

Possible return date: Unknown

Joel Matip

Joel Matip has missed the majority of Liverpool's season since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Fulham in December. As a result, it was predicted that the 32-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, would not feature again this campaign.

Possible return date:: Next season

Thiago Alcantara

After making his long-awaited comeback in February's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal, Thiago Alcantara has been sidelined with a muscle injury and is not expected to feature for Liverpool again this season. Like Matip, his contract is also set to expire in June.

Providing an update on the midfielder in February, manager Jurgen Klopp said: "There's no timescale. I don't know, to be honest. It's a couple of things [that] he has to do now from a medical point of view, and then I don't know if that will then mean that he can play again [this season]."

Possible return date: Next season
