Man dies after being hit by train between Swansea and Carmarthen

by Robert Harries · Wales OnlineA man has died after being hit by a train travelling between Swansea and Carmarthen, it has been confirmed. The incident happened over the weekend on the railway line in the Pembrey and Burry Port area of Carmarthenshire.
Train services travelling between Swansea and as far west as Pembrokeshire were affected early on Saturday morning while emergency services attended the scene with many scheduled trains cancelled and later delayed.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Pembrey at around 9.20am on Saturday, January 13, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
