Liverpool have clear reason to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to Kylian Mbappe deal amid £215m bid

All the latest January transfer news as Kylian Mbappe's future continues to cause speculation after entering his final six months of his contract at PSG

The future of Kylian Mbappe is set to dominate the headlines throughout the January transfer window as his contract at Paris Saint-Germain enters its final six months.

Clubs around Europe will be able to agree a pre-contract agreement with the forward now the transfer window has opened. Mbappe has been linked with an exit from the French giants for some time following an ongoing contract saga.

The 25-year-old refused to trigger a one-year contract extension in Paris last summer, causing alarm bells to be ringing at the Parc des Princes. An exit never materialised in the summer and, now, PSG face the prospect of losing one of the world's best players for nothing at the end of the season.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with interest in the France international. Real Madrid are clear favourites to sign Mbappe, though, with his wage demands expected to halt a potential move to England.

However, Liverpool have always been the leaders in the race from the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp a clear fan of the striker. In fact, Mbappe was first linked with a move to Anfield in 2019 and this year is no different.

Now, Le Parisien have claimed that Liverpool are "the most credible and dangerous candidate" for his signature in the summer. There's obviously plenty of work to be done should Mbappe move to Merseyside, but the Reds have a glaring reason to complete their pursuit.

Mohamed Salah's long-term future at Anfield is unclear following a world-record bid from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad - worth a whopping £215million bid. His contract expires at the end of next season and at 31, preparation for life without the Egyptian could see Liverpool make their move for Mbappe.

PSG are now expected to focus on attempting to convince Mbappe to sign a new deal in Paris as a short-term fix to the problem. However, a blockbuster move is on the cards for the forward.
