Humans weren't the only ones reunited with loved ones over the Christmas holiday.

Officers with the League City Police Department in Texas helped rescue 11 ducklings that had fallen in a storm drain - to the horror and frustration of a concerned mother duck.

In a now viral Facebook post, LCPD officers detailed the quick thinking that went into saving the ducklings, dubbing the entire ordeal a "Christmas Day feel good story."

LCPD Officers Bay and Ortega were alerted by a number of League City residents who informed them about the mama duck losing her 11 ducklings, according to the statement from the police department.

But upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered that the ducklings weren't close to the storm grate and had actually gone deeper into the drain.

All hope was not lost, as the mama duck would play a crucial role in saving her little ones. She began calling the ducklings, getting the small birds back towards the opening.

"Once back at the opening Officer Ortega closed off their access to the drain, and Officer Bay jumped into action," the statement reads. "Officer Bay 'ducked' down in the hole and was able to rescue the 11 ducklings, who were then reunited with their mama."

The police department concluded their statement sharing that the mama duck "quickly gathered them all together, and they all waddled their way back home."

Included in the post was a number of pictures detailing the events. Officers could be seen retreiving the ducklings from the drain and other pictures show the mama and her tribe heading to their destination.

The great deed of the officers was celebrated on the Facebook post, with local citizens praising the duo for stepping in and helping the "voiceless".

"We have the best PD. They're ready for anything. Somewhere tonight there's a mama duck giving thanks," Tom Chattin. The sentiment was shared by Connie Ziegler Stout, who added: "Thank you Police officers Bay and Ortega for saving the voiceless mama duck and her babies! True Hero’s!"

Kay Cheatham made a bold declaration, adding: " We have the best police department in Texas!! Thank you LCPD for all you do!!"
