Andre Onana will be available for Manchester United's FA Cup third round tie against Wigan Athletic but it is unclear if he will play in their next Premier League match against Tottenham.

Onana was named in the Cameroon squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and their first game in the competition is against Guinea on January 15 - 24 hours after United host Spurs at Old Trafford. United travel to Wigan on Monday.

When United signed Onana from Inter Milan for £47.2million in July, he had retired from international football but the 27-year-old was recalled by coach Rigobert Song in September.

Onana is attempting to play as many matches as possible for United in January as recompense, delaying his journey to the Ivory Coast until the last minute.

"So we're talking with the Cameroon federation," United manager Erik ten Hag clarified. "It was an issue during the talks with Andre when he came in here.

"It's constructive. We will see. I don't know yet (if he will play against Tottenham) but he will be here for the game against Wigan."

Onana has started in all 28 United matches this season while his fellow goalkeeper, summer signing Altay Bayindir, is yet to make his debut.

Ten Hag refused to publicly comment on Jadon Sancho's imminent return to Borussia Dortmund on loan. United are expected to finalise the winger's departure within the next week.

Sancho was banished from the first team squad four months ago after he publicly accused Ten Hag of lying over his omission from the matchday squad for the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on September 3.

"I can't say anything about that," Ten Hag said. "We have to wait and see how things are going. When we have news, we will tell you. I can't say anything about this subject because there is no news."
