Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has delighted fans with a soap crossover as she revealed one of her best friends is a Hollyoaks star. The actress joined the cast of the ITV soap this summer as Betsy Swain in her first major TV role.

Sydney had already popped up in the long-running show, simply referred to as Sabrina Adetiba's mate, before it was confirmed she was Betsy, the daughter of DS Lisa Swain and she's quickly got herself in the mix of Weatherfield life with work experience at Underworld.

She's also, unbeknownst to her mum, blackmailing Joel Deering, unaware that he was behind the disappearance of teenager Lauren Bolton after he left her for dead, only for her to recently return, pregnant with the solicitors baby.

Away from the cobbles and Sydney is keeping her friends and new-found followers updated on what she's up to and she was this week seen enjoying what appeared to be a night out with her fellow soap star Isabelle Smith, who plays Frankie Osborne in Hollyoaks.

Sharing a gorgeous picture of the pair on Instagram, in which they were posing by Salford Quay as evening set, Sydney wrote: "In another universe betsy and frankie would be friends."

Quick to gush, Isabelle replied: "I love you so much," before her followers also shared their thoughts on the crossover. @kyla11_x said: "Omg yes they would have been the best of friends." @frcyascalder commented: "The caption is so so true!!!"

I adore the friendship you two have." @jo_tomlinson82 added: "Icons both have absolutely smashed it."

It comes after Sydney recently took to social media to share a snap from the soap's Trafford-based set. It was clear she loving her time on the famous street after landing her first major role in the long-running show earlier this year. As she smiled for the mirror selfie in her dressing room, the actress wrote: "Happy place," alongside a clapperboard emoji.
