Police arrest 8 suspects over alleged robbery in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested eight suspects over an alleged robbery on Katsina Road and the Kurna Asabe area of Ungogo Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Friday in Kano.

He said one Ibrahim Rabiu, aka Janare, of Kwanar Ungogo Quarters, along with seven others, were apprehended during an operation.

He said that the suspect, who had allegedly been identified as a terror leader of a gang of over 200 youths, had on November 9, coordinated criminal activities of blocking Kano to Katsina Road, extorted money from innocent individuals, motorists and vandalised people’s property.

He identified the other seven gang members as Aminu Adamu, Danye, Halifa Bashir, Jamilu Mas’udu, Abubakar Surajo, Ahmad Surajo, Muftahu Surajo, and Ibrahim Surajo.

According to the police spokesman: “We recovered two unregistered motorcycles, three swords, four cutlasses, five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 135 pieces of Exol tablets, 10 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 150 pieces of rubber solution, and 27 injections during the operation.”

He said Commissioner of Police Hussaini Gumel assured the public that the command would remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all residents in Kano State.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to relentless efforts towards apprehending and bringing to justice those who wanted to disrupt the peaceful coexistence being enjoyed in the state.

“We will not relent in our efforts to apprehend and bring to justice, those who seek to disrupt the peace and peaceful coexistence being enjoyed under our areas of supervision,” he said.
