Plymouth Argyle position over Morgan Whittaker outlined by Neil Dewsnip
Whittaker has emerged as one of the best players in the Championship, scoring 13 goals in 26 games for the Pilgrims this season
by Chris Errington · PlymouthLivePlymouth Argyle have no intention of selling 13-goal top scorer Morgan Whittaker during the January transfer window, director of football Neil Dewsnip has declared.
Whittaker has emerged as one of the top talents in the EFL following his £1 million transfer from Swansea City in the summer and, inevitably, other clubs will be watching him closely. The continued outstanding form of the 22-year-old will be key to Argyle achieving their main aim for this season, which is retaining their Championship status into 2023/24.
However, Dewsnip did add that if Argyle were offered 'incredible amounts of money' for any of their players, Whittaker included, club officials would discuss the situation.

Argyle have seen talented on-loan midfielder Finn Azaz leave Home Park this week after he was recalled by Aston Villa so he could be transferred to Middlesbrough for £2.5m.
There have also been reports in the West Midlands that Wolves are considering selling on-loan Argyle midfielder Luke Cundle, with Stoke City and Bristol City both linked to him.
Whittaker is a different case completely, though, because he is under contract to the Pilgrims until the end of the 2026/27 season, and his value is only increasing with every goal he scores.
Dewsnip said: "There is no intention of anybody from the owner (Simon Hallett) through to whoever to have a mandate to sell Morgan. So nobody at Argyle would wish a sale involving Morgan at this stage, absolutely not.
"That said, if somebody offered us incredible amounts of money for any player, let alone Morgan, then I'm sure that would be a discussion to be had, but there is no agenda from anybody at Plymouth Argyle to sell Morgan Whittaker."
Another possible departure from Home Park is defender Macaulay Gillesphey, who has been linked to a transfer to League One outfit Charlton Athletic for a six-figure fee.
Gillesphey was among the crowd when Charlton lost 2-1 at home to Oxford United at The Valley on New Year's Day. Dewsnip said: "There is negotiations taking place and I'm waiting for further guidance. It's with them, it's at Charlton's end."
