A raging dad burst a teenage girl’s lip after her pal tore down bunting he’d put up to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

William Macauley, 36, has been jailed for 15 months for the cowardly attack.

He admitted assaulting 18-year-old Erin Burnside to her severe injury in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, on May 7.

His then partner, Louissa Dunn, admitted punching Kerry McTaggart, also 18, and was ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid community work.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard on Friday the couple’s home was one of several in the street decorated for the coronation.

Erin suffered cuts to her eyebrow and lip which were treated in hospital. Her friend was not injured.

Macauley and Dunn were also accused of making sectarian comments, but their not guilty pleas were accepted.
