Tsunami waves seen after series of quakes in Japan

A massive earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 hit central Japan on Monday, leading authorities to issue a tsunami warning and advisories for residents to evacuate and prepare for potential aftershocks.

Along the west coast by the Sea of Japan, a reported tsunami of approximately 1 metre high occurred, with expectations of a larger wave, according to a Reuters report. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings for the coastal prefectures of Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama.
