5 people injured after ambulance crashes outside Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy
by Neil Henderson · The CourierFife people were injured after a crash involving an ambulance and a car outside Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy on Monday.
Two fire crews from nearby Kirkcaldy station were scrambled after reports of the collision on Hayfield Road shortly after 4pm.
Several police vehicles, as well as two ambulances, were also dispatched to the scene.
Officers taped off the immediate area outside the hospital.
Five people, including two paramedics, were injured in the incident.
The extent of her injuries has not been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that five people had been injured in the incident.
They added: “We are aware of an accident involving an ambulance and another vehicle outside Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy at 4.03pm.
“The ambulance was en route to Ninewells Hospital to transfer a patient and we dispatched two ambulances to the scene.
“We transported five people, including two SAS staff members, to Victoria Hospital.
“Another crew was dispatched to complete the original transfer to Ninewells.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 4.05pm police received a report of a two-vehicle road crash on Hayfield Road, Kirkcaldy.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received the alert at 4.03pm to a two-vehicle crash on Hayfield Road close to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
“Two fire appliances were dispatched from Kirkcaldy station and are continuing at the scene.”
