Suspected gunman, 20s, dead and second man seriously injured after Dublin restaurant shooting

by Cathal Ryan · Irish MirrorOne man in his 20s has died and another man in his 40s has been seriously injured following a gangland shooting that occurred in West Dublin on Christmas Eve.
Gardaí and emergency services personnel were rushed to the scene of the incident which took place at Browne's Steakhouse on Blanchardstown's Main Street, at around 8pm.
A father and a son, who were known to gardaí, were reportedly the targets of the gangland shooting at the popular restaurant. Gunmen are said to have entered on Christmas Eve firing at the pair as families and friends enjoying their meal rushed to safety.
One man, who is aged in his 40s, is currently receiving treatment for gunshot wounds and remains in a serious condition in James Connolly Memorial Hospital after he was driven there by a relative.

The suspected gunman, who is in his 20s, was allegedly tackled at the scene and fatally injured, it has been reported he was stabbed. The man was treated at the scene before being rushed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
In videos seen by the Irish Mirror shocked patrons of the restaurant can be heard screaming as they frantically run for safety following the incident. In one video someone can be heard saying that “people are shooting”. In one more clip, a woman is seen running with a child in her arms.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating an incident that occurred at premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown Dublin 15 earlier this evening, Sunday, 24 December 2023.
"Gardaí and emergency services personnel were alerted to the incident at around 8pm. Two males were later taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment.
"One of these males, aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased in hospital a short time afterwards. A second man, aged in his 40s, is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds and is in a serious condition.
"The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested."
The spokesperson added that An Garda Síochána is not currently in a position to confirm the exact nature of the injuries sustained by the deceased.
