Fair City fans 'work out' real reason why Suzanne Doyle is back in Carrigstown
Suzanne is one of many characters returning to Carrigstown as part of Fair City's 35th anniversary, and now fans are coming up with reasons as to why she would come back
by Michelle Townsend · RSVP LiveSome Fair City fans reckon they have "worked out" why Suzanne Doyle is coming back to Fair City.
Actress Sarah Flood is reprising her role after 11 years to coincide with the long-running soap opera's 35th anniversary.
Suzanne, daughter of Bela and Rita, is best remembered for marrying Damien Halpin and the couple seemed like love’s young dream. However, things took a dark turn when Suzanne started physically attacking Damien in a gripping domestic abuse storyline, inevitably causing their marriage to fall apart.

Fair City fans were shocked when Sarah was dropped from the soap back in 2013 as Suzanne was written out to move to Australia after a harrowing few years for the character.
Now, viewers are intrigued to see what brings her back to Carrigstown and have been sharing their theories.
One fan wondered whether she will run into ex Damien following his arrest for the building site fire: "Damien is lucky he's locked up."
Another guessed: "Bella dies??" following actor Jim Bartley's exit from the soap last year. This would be heartbreaking news for the residents of Carrigstown as Bela is so loved in the community.
A third suggested: "[Suzanne] could be coming back for something for the big anniversary".
A fourth person theorised she could be linked to the murder of Laura Halpin, Damien's sister: "Did they forget about the murder case?"
RTE bosses are keeping tight-lipped on Suzanne's return for now, so viewers will have to tune in to see how the storyline plays out. She won't be alone either as her brother Jimmy, played by David Mitchell, will also be back.
Other returns fans of the long-running soap opera should keep an eye out for is Ciaran Holloway (Johnny Ward), Cathal Spillane (Eric Lalor), and Katy O'Brien (Amilia Keating).
Tyler Munroe, played by Peter Gaynor, will also be back. He was last seen in Carrigstown in 2021 when he shot Dean Dowling at Christmas time in a bid to protect the deeply troubled character Lucy Mallon, after she killed Ritchie Lennon.
We have yet to find out what brings these particular characters back, but fans can expect the drama to continue following an event-filled year, with stories such as Anto's gambling addiction, Kira and Victor's affair and the Laura Halpin whodunnit gripping viewers over the past few months.
Brigie de Courcy, Executive Producer of Fair City said: "Reaching 35 years is an incredible achievement for any television programme, and it’s all thanks to the dedication of our talented writers, cast and crew, and of course, the viewers who have supported us through the years. We are excited to celebrate this milestone with our audience and look forward to many more years of storytelling in Carrigstown."
Fair City airs three nights a week on RTE One and RTE Player. Have you been following any of the storylines recently?
