Part of State Highway 2 near Hastings closed after motorbike rider critically injured in serious crash

A motorbike rider has been rushed to hospital after a serious crash near Hasting closed parts of State Highway 2 on Sunday morning.   

Emergency services rushed to State Highway 2, near Connor White Road, Te Hauke, Hastings at around 9:30am after a serious two-vehicle crash involving a motorbike.   

A police spokesperson said the motorbike rider was critically injured and transported to hospital by helicopter.  

The spokesperson confirmed the Serious Crash Unit had been advised.   

The road is closed with diversions in place and motorists are advised to expect delays, the spokesperson said. 

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said the crash on SH2 is about 25km south of Hastings.   

"Please follow instructions from emergency services on-site and expect DELAYS through the Te Hauke area at this time. Use alternative routes if possible," NZTA said.
