Club make ‘new contacts’ with Nottingham Forest to sign player in ‘last few hours’ – Have changed wage offer
by Sean Lunt · Sport WitnessNapoli have held ‘new contacts’ for Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala in the ‘last few hew hours’, changing their offer to try and get a deal done.
That’s according to Sky Italy, relayed by Napoli magazine, who say Napoli have offered a loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions.
Mangala has been linked with a move away from Nottingham Forest throughout the January transfer window after seemingly falling out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Clubs in Italy in particular have been keen on his signature, including Napoli, who are looking to add to their squad this month after a promise from President Aurelio de Laurentiis to secure signings.
They’ve been monitoring him all month and have now made a new bid, offering a loan with a mandatory purchase clause worth €25m. That, though, would only be activated if he plays at least 45 minutes in 50% of the games between now and the end of the season.
Thus, the power would be in Napoli’s hands, but they’ve looked to sweeten the potential deal for Nottingham Forest by revising their salary offer as well.
New contacts are underway either way with the Italian champions still keen and Juventus and Rennes in the background.
