Player open to leaving Chelsea – ‘Good opportunity’ for club to secure deal, talks held
by Naveen Ullal · Sport WitnessEarlier this month, Sport reported Barcelona have held talks with Chelsea and Carney Chukwuemeka’s agent over a potential deal this summer.
The midfielder is open to leaving the Premier League and the Catalan club aren’t the only option available for him.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say Napoli have set their sights on the Chelsea player.
The 20-year-old has struggled for regular minutes since joining the Blues in 2022. He was restricted to just over 250 minutes from 12 games last season.
Napoli are already negotiating with Enzo Maresca’s side for Romelu Lukaku. During the talks for the striker, the report says they asked Chelsea about Chukwuemeka.
The England U20 international wasn’t part of the squad in the Blues’ defeat to Manchester City on Sunday. His situation is unlikely to improve this season and TMW say he would be open to leaving Chelsea in this window.
Taking these factors into account, Chukwuemeka could be a ‘good opportunity’ for Antonio Conte’s side. It’s claimed they are looking to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy set at €15-20m.
TMW state the ‘channels are open’, but add the deals for Chukwuemeka and Lukaku aren’t interlinked.
